Volvo has shown a keen interest to pamper the customers who prefer a chauffeur driven car, and they have taken this to the next level by presenting the XC90 Lounge Console at the Shanghai Motor Show. The XC90 Lounge Console is based on XC90 Excellence, which had only two rows of seat to make room for recliners in the second row. And now, the front passenger seat has been removed to make room for some incredible luxuries for the right hand rear-seat passenger. And it looks so good, that even business class of reputed airlines will be put to shame!

The front seat makes way for a dedicated console, which can slide back and forth. This allows more legroom for the rear passenger and the console doubles up as a footrest too.

It has a work table, which can be opened up to reveal a mirror, beneath which lies a storage space for random items like jewellery, cuff-links, make-up accessories etc.

The entire work table can rotate 90 degrees and on the other side we have a huge 17-inch screen for multimedia, which gives a theatre like experience to the passenger.

The other side of the console consists of a storage space for watches, wallets etc.

Beneath the footrest, there is another cabinet which is for a pair of shoes. There’s an additional lockable cabinet meant for storing valuable items too.

Between the rear seats, there is the usual wine glass holders, storage for cups, another slide-out table for the left seat with a wine glass holder, and towards the centre there is a panel for the driver consisting of engine start/stop button and gear, and up front lies the media controller and another display for the driver.

Unfortunately, for those who are interested in such a layout, the XC90 Lounge Console is still just a concept car. The following video was released by Volvo which gives us ample details about this luxury car. While such a concept is of no use for people who take their family along, for those who love to live a luxurious life, this should be worth waiting for.
