Interested Flipkart First users will have to register before February 2 for the offer. “All Flipkart First subscribers who get Early Access on the Mi4 will get an email from Flipkart to confirm their Early Access by February 4,” the email from Flipkart added.

For other users, the sale will go live at 2 PM on February 10. As mentioned in our recent article, 25,000 to 40,000 units will be available during the first flash sale. Manu Jain, head of Xiaomi India, revealed that around 1,00,000 users had already registered for the sale.

Xiaomi on Wednesday launched its last year’s flagship, the Mi 4, in India for Rs. 19,999. Registrations has begun from January 28 itself and there will be two sales per week this time. This year’s sales strategy by Xiaomi is seen as an aggressive one with focus on expanding its operation in India, one of the fastest growing smartphone markets, and they have already announced launch of their own portal for future smartphone sales.

Flipkart First

Flipkart First, an annual subscription package available for Rs. 500, went live in June last year with a free three month subscription for 75,000 customers selected by a lucky draw in May. At the time of launching this offer, Flipkart announced that the Flipkart First annual subscription service will offer customers unlimited access to In-a-Day Guarantee delivery; free standard delivery with no minimum purchase price; Same-day Guarantee delivery at a discounted price, and a bonus 60-day replacement guarantee, instead of the usual 30-day period. In addition, the Flipkart First annual subscription service will also offer customers access to priority customer service with minimal waiting period.

Earlier, Xiaomi had made available its last two devices, Xiaomi Redmi 1S and Xiaomi Redmi Note, for the Flipkart First subscribers a day prior to the official India launch.

Flipkart First is similar to the Amazon Prime premium subscription service available in US which offers similar exclusive packages for its subscribers for an annual fee of $99. With good competition between e-commerce retailers in India, it would be interesting to see if other companies too bring out similar strategies, with Amazon’s Prime being the most speculated one since Flipkart First’s launch.
